We’re so proud of our collaboration with spoken word artist Sekou Andrews and The String Theory, brought to visual life with the help of Optimist LA and director Mischa Meyer. This powerful visual art piece became a GRAMMY-nominated project and went on to win six Clios.
Love Says delves into the complexity of love as both a powerful force for unity and a source of profound contradiction. It exposes how love’s ideals—freedom, unity, and compassion—can be twisted into motivations for violence, hatred, and division. Love is both the inspiration behind every act of peace and every act of conflict, showing that our deepest connections to each other can fuel either growth or harm.
The poem urges us to recognize the humanity across our divides. It calls us to seek understanding, to “let Love be the first act,” and to look beyond the boundaries of race, belief, and political stance. In a time often marked by polarization, this message is a reminder that true change begins with empathy, and that meaningful progress requires us to see each other fully—even when it’s difficult.
Originally created right before George Floyd’s death in 2020, it was chilling to hear the words “I Can’t Breath” everywhere all of the sudden – as Sekou had written these lines years before. It shows how timeless this piece is. It’s a powerful reminder that love’s challenges—and its potential to heal—remain as relevant today as ever.
